Hey Teacher Friend!
Teachers are seeing an increase in challenging behaviors. At the same time, many teachers are quietly carrying something else:
A lack of support.
Maybe you’ve reached out and haven’t heard back.
Maybe support feels inconsistent… or delayed… or just not enough.
And slowly, without even realizing it, that weight starts to build.
You’re managing behaviors.
Trying to stay on top of everything.
Holding it all together.
And it’s exhausting.
Why Lack of Support Leads to Teacher Burnout
When teachers don’t feel supported, something subtle but powerful starts to happen.
We begin to:
- Take on more than we should
- Try to fix everything ourselves
- Over-manage behaviors
- Feel responsible for things outside our control
Over time, that leads straight to teacher burnout.
Not just being tired…
But feeling like:
“No matter how hard I’m working… it’s not working.”
That’s the kind of exhaustion that sticks.
And here’s the important part:
Burnout isn’t a sign of weakness.
It’s a signal that something needs to shift.
The Truth About What You Can (and Can’t) Control
There are real things in teaching that you cannot control:
- Testing schedules
- Parent involvement
- Administrative decisions
- School-wide systems
However, there are also things you can influence every single day:
- Your classroom culture
- Your routines and structure
- How students engage with learning
- The expectations you build and reinforce
This is where your power lives.
And when everything feels overwhelming, it helps to pause and ask:
👉 Where is this pressure coming from?
Because if it’s outside your classroom, you can acknowledge it… and let it go.
But if it’s inside your classroom?
That’s where change can begin.

A Powerful Shift: Stop Waiting for Support to Fix It
When support feels limited, it’s easy to get stuck in this cycle:
“If someone would just help with this student…”
“If admin would step in…”
“If something outside my classroom would change…”
But what if the shift starts somewhere else?
Instead of asking:
How do I get someone else to fix this?
Try asking:
What can I change in my classroom that makes this behavior harder to happen?
This is a small shift—but it’s a powerful one.
Because even if one student continues to struggle,
a stable classroom environment changes everything.
- You’re not constantly reacting
- The rest of your students can learn
- The energy of the room shifts
And most importantly…
You start to feel more in control again.
Behavior improves because we build something stronger
stronger
underneath it.
The Foundation That Changes Everything
One of the biggest things I’ve learned over the years is this:
Behavior doesn’t improve because we manage it better.
It improves because we build something stronger underneath it.
When your classroom is grounded in:
- Connection and belonging
- Emotional support
- Meaningful engagement
Students don’t need to act out in the same ways.
They’re part of something.
They feel it.
And that changes how they show up.
A Few Small Shifts You Can Start With
You don’t need to overhaul everything to begin.
Start small:
- Notice where students are disengaged and add one active moment
- Tighten one routine that feels loose or inconsistent
- Build one moment of connection into your day
Small, intentional shifts can create real momentum.
And when momentum builds, everything starts to feel more manageable.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Even if support in your building feels inconsistent,
that doesn’t mean you have to figure this out by yourself.
There are spaces, tools, and communities designed to support you—because you deserve that.
