Hey Teacher Friend!
Teaching is tough. There’s no doubt about it and yet… here you are coming back day after day, year after year. There’s a reason. In fact, I would dare to say there are 3 really great reasons for you to stay in this amazing, (even if sometimes draining) profession.

Reason #1 – The Kids
There’s a reason why teachers call their students their “kids.” We want our kids to do well and we genuinely care about them. What’s even more, is that teachers really gravitate to the age group they are teaching for a reason. Whether you teach elementary, high school, preK or middle school levels, you have an appreciation and love for your kids.
You appreciate how they learn, how they grow and work hard to help move them to the next phase of their life. They become better people becuase of your dedication to them.
You are talented at reaching the kids you are teaching and this is what you are meant to do!
Reason #2 – The Content
Another reason to keep teaching is the content!
Hopefully you are teaching something you are interested in. Maybe it’s history, math, art or science. Maybe you love reading and your the school librarian or the reading specialist. Maybe you are a high school lit teacher who can even develop a course based on an author you love and want to bring to your kids.
With as many constraints that teaching has, there’s also a lot of ways we can share our love of the content with our kids as we help them learn and grow.
It’s always amazing to see how students go through the learning process too. Watching them have those “a-ha” moments is such a reward to any teacher.
Reason #3 – To Make A Difference
Your students need us. They need caring, creative teachers who are rooting for them, who love them and want to help them succeed.
And no matter how many teachers your students may have over the years, you have a unique way to reach your students. Now that’s a big reason to keep teaching!
Your personality, your teaching style, your humor, your care, your creativity… All of what you have brings something to each student’s educational experience that cannot be duplicated.
Never discredit that.
Even the toughest kids can see that we care if we are genuine about it. So keep at it, teacher friend.
