What a wonderful way to break down AI for professional development, Elizabeth! I know that you ROCKED this for your teachers and how powerful it was/is for them. Congrats - what a great accomplishment! Can't wait to hear how you follow up with each other!

Hi Elizabeth--
I just wanted to make sure you are aware of the Kennedy Center's just-launched Arts Integration site:
http://www.artsedge.kennedy-center.org/content/arts-integration.aspx
And do you know about the Arts Integration Conference there at the end of June? Info about that event can be found on the site.
I think it's a good resource for the field.
Rosalind

I used this yesterday with my class and they loved it. I am thinking of implementing a drama strategy called missing voice. I am going to model it first by writing a journal entry from the point of view of one of the "characters" in Normal Rockwell's painting. I was inspired to do this by what one of my students said to me yesterday regarding the painting "The Shiner" . She asked, "Is there a story behind this painting? Why is she smiling?" Therefore, I'm going to have students choose a painting and write from one of the characters perspective. Your lesson worked so well in my classroom and my students absolutely loved it. Thanks!!

Jen, I agree with you about finding balance. I have seen this struggle in so many areas throughout my entire career and have often felt that instead of the constant swinging back and forth on that pendulum that we should be finding a way to meet in the middle and become more balanced in our approach.
