About Susan Riley

Susan Riley works in Columbia, MD as a public elementary school vocal/general music teacher. She also serves as the arts integration site coordinator and teacher development liaison for her building. As such, Susan piloted and leads a school-wide arts integration program and serves as the professional development coordinator for teachers. She believes strongly in the power of arts integration and that it can revolutionize our education system so desperately in need of a change. Susan’s arts integration program has been recognized by the Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance as the “best arts integration program in the state”, has been visited by state legislators, featured in the Baltimore Sun and is being nominated as a school of excellence by the Kennedy Center. Susan received her bachelors degree in Music Education from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, NJ and a masters degree in Education Administration and Supervision from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. She has been teaching, writing and leading in schools for the past 10 years. She regularly presents at conferences at the local, state and national level on starting and leading successful arts integration programs and maintains the blog Education Closet to house arts integration strategies, techniques, her ebook and a monthly ezine.
